Section A
A0810 — Sex
Response options
How to score it
Record the patient's sex as documented in the medical record. A0810 was introduced in OASIS-E (effective January 2023) and replaced the legacy M0069 'Gender' item. Required at SOC and ROC time points.
The error that sends records back
Mapping a non-binary or undocumented gender identity to a coded value the spec does not allow. CMS only accepts 1 (Male) or 2 (Female); document any nuance in the clinical narrative, not in this field.
