How to score it
Record the two-letter postal code for the state in which the branch office providing care is located. For agencies with no branches, record the state of the parent agency. The branch state combines with the branch ID (M0016) to identify the office of record for this patient.
The common error
Entering the patient's state of residence (M0050) instead of the branch state. M0014 is about the agency office, not the patient.
