OASIS calendar-year transition period closes

CMS proposed a six-month stub data-collection period (July 1 – December 31, 2026) to shift OASIS annual payment update reporting onto a calendar year. That window is running now and would determine your 2028 annual payment update.

PDGM functional points recalibration (CY2027), if finalized
January 1, 2027
CMS proposed re-deriving the functional points and impairment-level thresholds for the eight PDGM OASIS items using CY2025 claims data — the same annual recalibration methodology, not a redesign. Treat the proposed figures as provisional until the final rule.

First 45-day OASIS deadline (Q1 2027), if finalized

Under the proposed rule, the OASIS submission-and-correction window shrinks to the 15th day of the second month after quarter close. Q1 2027's base deadline (May 15) falls on a Saturday, rolling to Monday, May 17, 2027 under the proposed grace provision.

HHVBP CY2028 payment adjustments — expected

HH grouper + ICD-10-CM update — expected October

CMS has historically refreshed the HH PDGM grouper software each October with the annual ICD-10-CM code-set update. The two confirmed 2026 releases (v07.0.26 on January 1, v07.1.26 on April 1) fit that recurring update cycle.

OASIS-E2 mandatory for all assessments

OASIS-E2 has been required for every assessment with an M0090 completion date of April 1, 2026 or later — there was no grace period. Nine items changed, including A0810 replacing M0069 and A1255 replacing A1250.

HHVBP CY2026 payment adjustments in effect
January 1, 2026
CY2026 HHVBP payment adjustments — based on CY2024 performance, up to plus-or-minus 5% on every Medicare claim — took effect January 1, 2026. Functional-outcome OASIS measures now drive 40% of the Total Performance Score.
