M2030 — Management of Injectable Medications

Response options

| 0 | Able to independently take the correct medication(s) and proper dosage(s) at the correct times |
| 1 | Able to take injectable medication(s) at the correct times if individual dosages are prepared in advance by another person |
| 2 | Able to take medication(s) at the correct times if given reminders by another person at the appropriate times |
| 3 | Unable to take medication unless administered by another person |
| NA | No injectable medications prescribed |
How to score it
Assess the patient's ability to self-administer prescribed injectable medications (e.g., insulin, anticoagulants). If no injectables are prescribed, select NA. Score based on usual performance. Pre-drawn syringes count as 'advance preparation' for response 1.
The common error
Failing to select NA when the patient has no prescribed injectables (leaving the field blank). Also: scoring a patient as '0' (independent) when they require a caregiver to draw up the syringe.
