M1820 on the OASIS item lookup
M1820. If the patient has a physician’s order to wear elastic compression stockings and they are integral to their medical treatment, (e.g. patient at risk for DVT), but the patient is unable to apply them, what is the correct response for M1820 - Current Ability to Dress Lower Body?
M1820 - Current Ability to Dress Lower Body identifies the patient’s ability to obtain, put on, and remove their lower body clothing, including lower extremity supportive or protective devices. Elastic compression stockings, air casts, etc., should be considered when scoring M1820. The patient in this situation would be scored based on their ability to obtain, put on and remove the majority of their lower body dressing items.
