Who it covers and how it works
CoversRegistered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical or vocational nurses (LPN/VNs).
Not coveredAPRNs. The compact covers RNs and LPN/VNs only.
How it worksA nurse whose primary state of residence is an open state holds one multistate license issued by that state. The other open states recognize that license, so the nurse does not apply for a separate license in each.
Home stateFor the Nurse Licensure Compact, your home state is your primary state of residence.
