  1. 1Make sure the path to the bathroom is clear and lit, day and night.
  2. 2Turn until the backs of your legs touch the toilet.
  3. 3Reach back for the arm rest or grab bar before you sit.
  4. 4Lower yourself slowly. Do not drop down.
  5. 5Use a toilet aid or wipes within reach if you have them.
  6. 6Push up from the arm rest or grab bar, not the sink. Stand still for a moment before you walk.
