Energy conservation and work simplification
Occupational therapy · Home health
Six habits that let you do what matters to you with less tiredness.
Plan
Decide what needs doing today. Spread big jobs over the week.
Pace
Work at a slow, steady speed. Do not rush.
Prioritize
Do the most important jobs first, while you have the most energy. Let the rest wait.
Position
Keep things you use often between waist and shoulder height, so you do not bend or reach.
Sit when you can
Sit to cook, wash up, get dressed and do your hair.
Rest before you’re tired
Take short rests through the day, before you feel worn out.
